What mindspeace is
mindspeace is a free web app for people who work, study or sleep better with sound. In one place you get a mixer for nature recordings and noise colours, a binaural beat and isochronic tone generator (0.5 to 100 Hz), a small library of pure tones, timed frequency sessions, a tinnitus pitch matcher with notched and masking sound, and a Pomodoro timer.
There is no account, no download and no advertising. You open the page, press play and it works.
The rules we build by
- Sound should start instantly and never loop audibly. Noise colours, beats and tones are calculated live by your browser's Web Audio engine, sample by sample, so there is no file to buffer and no seam every few minutes.
- Your settings belong to you. Mixes, timer stats, tasks and brain-dump notes are stored in your own browser, not on our server. Our privacy policy explains exactly what the server does see.
- Honesty over hype. Many frequency sites promise healing, DNA repair or guaranteed brain states. We don't. When the research is mixed or thin, our pages say so.
- Quiet is safer than loud. Every tool starts at a low level, and our guides keep reminding you to listen below conversation volume.
Who is behind it
mindspeace is an independent project built and maintained by a small team of web developers. We are not a clinic, a device manufacturer or a supplement company, and we don't sell anything on this site. The app is funded by the people who make it.
We are also not doctors or audiologists. That is precisely why we lean on published research for anything health-related and send you to a professional whenever a symptom needs one.
Editorial policy: how we research and write
- Primary sources first. Health and science claims are based on peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, which we name in the text (author, journal and year) so you can look them up.
- We report the strength of the evidence. A small pilot study is described as a small pilot study. If a popular claim has no good evidence behind it, such as Solfeggio tones repairing DNA, we say that plainly.
- No medical claims. mindspeace is a wellness tool. Nothing on this site diagnoses, treats or cures a condition, and our tinnitus, sleep and ADHD pages explain when to see a doctor.
- Tool descriptions match the tool. When a page says the notch is one octave wide or the carrier range is 60 to 600 Hz, that is what the code actually does.
- Pages are reviewed and dated. Every article shows when it was last updated. We revisit health pages when new research is published.
- Corrections are welcome. If you spot an error or a better source, write to info@mindspeace.com. We fix confirmed mistakes and update the date on the page.
Where the sounds come from
Noise colours (white, pink, brown, deep brown, green, blue and grey), binaural beats, isochronic tones, pure tones and tinnitus therapy sounds are synthesised in real time. Nature sounds such as rain, ocean waves, fire, wind and birdsong are real field recordings from public-domain and openly licensed sources, re-encoded for the web and layered over a live texture so playback starts the moment you press play.
An important note on health
mindspeace is not a medical device. If your tinnitus is new, in one ear only, pulses with your heartbeat or comes with hearing loss or dizziness, see a doctor. Sudden hearing loss is an emergency. Avoid pulsing audio such as binaural beats and isochronic tones if you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, and never listen to brainwave audio while driving.
